In the town of Burhanpur there is a unique system of water supply. This is known as the ‘Khooni Bhandara’. It’s unique in the sense that the water runs in the covered channels about four kilometres, without any help of electricity or any other modern invention. This whole system includes a pond, underground channels and some chambers. These four metre deep underground channels are made of marble. After each hundred metres there is a chamber known as ‘Kundi’. Here the underground running water can be taken out with the help of a bucket tied to a rope. This natural water is so pure, cold, and clean that it is used as drinking water. This natural and unique system was built in the 17th century by the Mughals.

(a) After visiting a picnic spot, Charu noted the following details in her diary. Now describe Charu’s visit with the help of the details given. The first one is done for you.

(a) Charu went to see the dam on Tuesday, the 12th of June 2007.

On Wednesday, the 13th of June 2007, she visited the zoo. On Thursday, the 14th of June 2007, Charu had lunch at 11:30 a.m. in a restaurant. Later that noon, she saw a documentary film. In the evening, she returned home after completing her activities for the day.

(b) Write a short note on Bhola’s visit to Maheshwar.

Bhola visited Maheshwar with his father. They went there by bus and it took them about three hours to reach from Indore. They arrived at 11 in the morning. After bathing in the holy river Narmada, they started their visit with the famous Maheshwar Fort. The fort is majestic and is also known as the fort complex because it has many temples and ghats nearby. It is made of red stone brought from Gujarat and Rajasthan. Bhola shared that Maheshwar is also famous for its cotton and silk blended handloom sarees, known as Maheshwari sarees.
